Civil and Criminal Litigation Attorney

Jessica Talavera is a civil and criminal litigation attorney at Sanger, Hanley, Sanger & Avila LLP. She first joined the firm as a Discovery Review Intern while completing her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She earned a B.A. in Sociology and Philosophy with an emphasis in public policy. ​

Ms. Talavera served as a Judicial Assistant III with the Santa Barbara Superior Court from 2021 to 2022. She returned to the firm in 2022 as a Legal Assistant before pursuing her legal education.

Ms. Talavera earned her Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School in 2025, graduating magna cum laude. She completed Southwestern Law's SCALE two-year accelerated J.D. program with concentrations in Criminal Law and Public Service. While in law school, Jessica served as a Certified Law Clerk with the Los Angeles County Alternate Public Defender's Office. She also participated in the Community Lawyering Clinic, assisting clients with U-Visas, DACA renewals, and a variety of civil matters.
